La Cala Resort
La Cala Resort is one of the most famous and extensive golf resorts on the Costa del Sol in Spain. There are three 18-hole golf courses at the facility, designed by American golf architect Cabell B. Robinson. All courses are designed to suit players of all skill levels and challenge golfers with their variety in layout and terrain
Campo America: This course has wide fairways and large greens, but is also known for its tricky bunkers and water hazards. There are also some elevation changes on the course that add extra challenge.
Campo Asia: This course is the narrowest of the three, with many trees and some challenging doglegs. The course requires precision and good strategy to navigate around the tricky obstacles.
Campo Europa: This course is the longest of the three and has a more open layout than the other courses. However, there are still many challenges, including elevation changes, bunkers and water hazards.
Designed by renowned Robert Trent Jones, Mijas Los Lagos is one of two championship courses at Mijas Golf Club. The course originally opened in 1976 but in 2012 the design and layout was updated to today's even more popular golfing experience. The course offers wide, undulating fairways that are bordered by water on at least half of the holes, and the holes end with large inviting greens. If you are a qualified golfer, you have good chances to play a challenging tactic, while we with higher hcp have a fun round on a not too difficult course.
Mijas Los Olivos is one of two courses at Mijas Golf Club. This course, like its sister course, was designed by the well-respected Robert Trent Jones. Los Olivos is a slightly tougher challenge than Los Lagos. Here you play on narrower fairways with plenty of trees along the fairways and the greens are smaller and more undulating than the neighboring course. Choose Los Olivos if you want a challenging day on a well-maintained golf course with tactical play and where you get to use several clubs.
Santana GC is a real gem on the Costa del Sol, located about ten minutes' drive north of Fuengirola. The course is located in quiet and scenic surroundings away from the more hectic life on the coast. Here you can enjoy the chirping of birds and a really well-maintained golf course that is easy to walk around. The course is quite long and can perhaps be perceived as difficult if you do not have a little length in the strokes, but otherwise it is a forgiving design. There is of course some water and well planned bunkers but the open design is easy to understand. We rank Santana as one of the most affordable golf courses on the Sunshine Coast and we definitely recommend a visit here regardless of hcp.
